Policy & Terms of Service

Policy & Terms of Service for Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC

Effective Date: June 22, 2025
Last Updated: August 26, 2026

1. Scope of Services

Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC provides professional therapeutic and educational services, including:

• Therapeutic massage and flow-based bodywork
• Fascia and body-awareness education
• Reiki and non-touch energy sessions
• Intuitive movement and wellness guidance
• Educational classes, continuing education, and community offerings

These services are non-diagnostic and are not substitutes for medical or mental health care. Clients are encouraged to consult appropriately licensed healthcare providers for clinical diagnosis or treatment.

Therapeutic bodywork, including deeper pressure, myofascial techniques, cupping, scraping tools, and percussive techniques, may result in temporary physical responses such as:

• Muscle soreness
• Fatigue
• Light bruising or redness
• Increased awareness of tension or movement patterns
• Emotional responses

Clients agree to communicate immediately if pressure is too much, discomfort arises, or they would like a technique modified or discontinued.

Clients also acknowledge that physical activity, exercise, daily habits, hydration, stress, injuries, and other factors outside of a session may contribute to soreness, bruising, or other physical symptoms.

Any concerns following a session should be reported so appropriate follow-up guidance can be provided. Medical concerns should be directed to an appropriate licensed healthcare provider.

2. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

• Accurately communicate relevant medical history, current conditions, medications, injuries, and changes in health
• Express discomfort, pain, or boundary concerns immediately
• Maintain respectful behavior regarding professional and personal boundaries
• Follow studio policies, scheduling requirements, and payment expectations

Medication & Transdermal Patches

Clients are responsible for informing the therapist before the session if they are wearing any medication, hormone, or other transdermal patch.

Massage oils, lotions, body heat, movement, friction, clothing or draping adjustments, and hands-on techniques may affect the adhesive and cause a patch to loosen, shift, or detach during or following a session.

The therapist will make reasonable efforts to avoid direct contact with disclosed patches. However, Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC cannot guarantee that a patch will remain adhered during or after bodywork and is not responsible for the replacement cost of a patch that becomes loosened, damaged, or detached as a result of the session.

Clients are responsible for following the medication manufacturer's or prescribing healthcare provider's instructions regarding the placement, removal, replacement, or reapplication of any medication or transdermal patch.

3. Membership Pricing Terms

Membership pricing applies only to eligible therapeutic massage services explicitly designated as Members Only at the time of booking.

Memberships are issued per individual client and may not be shared between spouses, partners, family members, or household members. One membership applies to one person only.

Eligible Membership Services

Membership pricing currently applies to:

• Members-Only 60-Minute Therapeutic Massage
• Members-Only 90-Minute Therapeutic Massage

All other services are excluded from membership pricing unless explicitly stated otherwise at the time of booking.

Excluded services may include, but are not limited to:

• Non-member massage sessions
• New-client assessments or introductory services
• Reiki-only sessions
• Specialized or focused services offered separately from therapeutic massage
• Classes, workshops, professional continuing education, and community events
• Other stand-alone services or modalities introduced in the future

How Membership Credits Work

• When a membership payment processes, it creates one session credit based on the membership type purchased
• Credits roll over unless otherwise stated in the applicable membership agreement
• Credits must be used by the individual named on the membership
• Credits are not refundable once processed
• Credits are not transferable unless approved in writing by Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC

Upgrades and Downgrades

• A 60-minute membership credit may be upgraded to a 90-minute session by paying the applicable upgrade fee in effect at the time of service
• A 90-minute credit used for a 60-minute session will not receive a partial refund or remaining credit

Therapist-Initiated Adjustments

If a session length must be changed due to therapist availability, scheduling limitations, or other circumstances, the service and billing may be adjusted accordingly. Client-requested changes are subject to applicable membership, upgrade, downgrade, and scheduling policies.

Memberships for Minors

Memberships for clients under 18 years of age must be established and managed by a parent or legal guardian.

• The membership remains assigned to the minor as the sole recipient of services
• A parent or legal guardian must maintain an active payment method on file
• Membership credits issued for a minor may not be used by the parent, guardian, or any other individual
• All standard minor consent, supervision, and safety policies apply

Membership pricing does not guarantee appointment availability.

4. Booking & Payments

Payment is due at the time of service unless prepaid by an applicable membership credit or other approved payment arrangement.

A valid card may be required on file. By booking, clients authorize applicable charges for:

• Services rendered
• Late cancellations
• No-shows
• Other policy-approved fees, when applicable

Rates, services, and policies are subject to change with notice.

5. Cancellation & No-Show Policy

• Cancellations must be made more than 6 hours before the scheduled session
• Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged $75
• Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of scheduling privileges or service eligibility

6. Informed Consent to Touch & Energy Work

All services are performed with explicit verbal and/or written consent.

Clients have the right to decline, modify, or withdraw consent at any time.

Client Attire, Draping, and Clothing Adjustments

Clients are never required to remove clothing during a session for the purpose of gaining therapeutic access to the body.

Decisions regarding clothing removal are client-directed and voluntary.

When appropriate for the work being performed, professional draping materials such as towels or sheets may be used. Permission may also be requested to temporarily lift or adjust clothing edges, bands, or straps. These adjustments may help protect clothing from oils or allow appropriate access for fascial, structural, or other therapeutic bodywork while maintaining client coverage and comfort.

Any clothing adjustment is:

• Explained in advance
• Performed only with clear client agreement
• Limited to the minimum access required
• Immediately discontinued upon request

Clients may remain fully clothed at all times. Declining a clothing adjustment does not prevent the client from receiving care. Alternative techniques, positioning, or areas of focus may be used.

Sensitive & Therapeutic Areas

Some therapeutic techniques may involve treatment near the breasts, chest wall, inner thigh, groin-adjacent structures, hips, or other sensitive anatomical regions.

These areas will never be touched or exposed without clear, explicit consent from the client.

When breast or chest-wall work is performed for an appropriate therapeutic purpose, such as addressing post-surgical scar tissue, rib mobility, pectoral restrictions, or surrounding soft tissue:

• Draping will be adjusted only as needed for the specific therapeutic technique
• The client may stop or modify exposure or touch at any time
• All work remains strictly within professional scope and therapeutic purpose

Work near the inner thigh, inguinal ligament, or groin-adjacent regions may occur when addressing hip, core, pelvic, fascial, or movement relationships. Appropriate draping and ongoing communication will be maintained.

Clients always retain the right to decline or withdraw consent for any technique, at any moment, without explanation.

7. Specialized Tools & Technology

The following tools may be integrated into sessions when appropriate and approved by the client:

• Shockwave/percussive device
• Gua sha or scraping tools
• Silicone cupping tools
• Percussive vibration device
• Swedish ladder or structured stretching equipment
• Inversion table or assisted decompression equipment

Clients may decline any tool or technique at any time.

Structured Fascia-Focused Positional Work (Swedish Ladder)

Some therapeutic techniques may use supportive equipment such as a Swedish ladder to assist with positioning, leverage, stretching, movement, or fascial work.

Clients may be positioned in gentle stretches, rotations, or supported poses while soft-tissue work is performed.

This work is performed with the client clothed in flexible, movement-appropriate attire. All positioning is optional and performed with communication and consent. Clients may request that any technique be stopped or modified at any time.

The ladder is used only as supportive therapeutic equipment and is never intended to restrict a client's ability to discontinue a position or technique.

Inversion Table & Assisted Decompression

Some sessions may include optional use of an inversion table or assisted partial-inversion positioning for decompression, positional unloading, relaxation, or body-awareness purposes.

Use of the inversion table is always:

• Optional
• Brief and supervised
• Based on client comfort and expressed consent
• Used as a preparatory or supportive technique rather than a required component of treatment

Clients will be informed before inversion or partial-inversion positioning and may decline or discontinue its use at any time without explanation.

The inversion table is not used for diagnosis or as a substitute for medical treatment and may not be appropriate for all individuals.

Clients agree to disclose relevant medical history or conditions that may affect suitability, including but not limited to:

• Cardiovascular conditions
• Blood pressure concerns
• Vertigo or balance disorders
• Glaucoma or increased intraocular pressure
• Recent surgery or injury
• Joint instability
• Pregnancy
• Any condition for which inversion or positional changes have been medically restricted

Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC reserves the right to modify, limit, or decline inversion-table use based on professional judgment, safety considerations, or client presentation.

Clients acknowledge that temporary sensations such as lightheadedness, pressure changes, or increased body awareness may occur and agree to communicate immediately if discomfort arises.

8. Minors

Minors (Clients Under 18 Years Old)

Therapeutic massage services for minors are limited to 60-minute or 90-minute sessions unless otherwise agreed upon with the parent or legal guardian.

A parent or legal guardian must:

• Be present in the massage room for the entire first visit
• Provide written consent before services begin
• Remain on the premises for all future sessions
• Be immediately reachable during the session

After the first visit, the parent or guardian may choose to remain in the room or step outside based on the comfort of the minor, parent or guardian, and therapist.

If at any time the therapist or minor requests that the parent or guardian return to the room, they must do so promptly.

All professional and ethical boundaries apply at all times. Concerns regarding safety, communication, consent, or behavior may result in modification or immediate termination of the session.

Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC reserves the right to require a parent or legal guardian to remain in the room during any future session.

9. Confidentiality & Data Protection

Personal and health information is used only as necessary to provide services, maintain business records, communicate with clients, and meet applicable legal or professional requirements.

Records are maintained using reasonable confidentiality and security practices.

Information will not be intentionally disclosed to outside parties without authorization except when required or permitted by law.

10. Behavioral & Professional Safety

Services may be refused, modified, or discontinued if a client:

• Engages in inappropriate, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, or sexual behavior
• Violates the boundaries of the therapist, staff, clients, or other individuals
• Creates an unsafe environment
• Repeatedly disregards established policies or professional boundaries

11. Scope of Practice Disclaimer

Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC does not:

• Diagnose medical conditions
• Prescribe medications
• Provide chiropractic care
• Provide psychological or mental-health treatment
• Provide emergency medical care

Massage, bodywork, Reiki, wellness education, and related services are not substitutes for evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment by appropriately licensed healthcare professionals.

Clients are responsible for seeking appropriate medical attention when necessary.

12. Intellectual Property

Educational materials, written content, teaching materials, proprietary frameworks, course materials, session frameworks, branding, and other intellectual property belonging to Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC may not be reproduced, distributed, taught, published, or commercially used without written permission.

This includes materials associated with the Flow Differential Method™.

13. Policy Updates

These policies may be updated at any time.

Continued scheduling, purchasing, membership participation, class registration, or participation in services indicates acknowledgment of the policies in effect at that time.

The active version of this document will be maintained on the Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC website.

14. Creative, Educational & Demonstration Filming

Ben Johnston Intuitive Wisdom LLC may occasionally offer creative, educational, demonstration, or professional filming opportunities involving photographs, video, audio, or other documentation of therapeutic techniques, movement, bodywork, education, or related content.

Participation in any photographed or recorded session is always optional and requires appropriate consent before media is captured.

Filming opportunities are not standard therapeutic services and may be offered by invitation or separate agreement.

Declining participation does not affect a client's ability to receive services, schedule appointments, maintain membership, or participate in other offerings.

No recording will include nudity or intentionally capture sensitive anatomical regions without explicit prior written agreement.

15. Media & Content Release

When photographs, video, audio, testimonials, demonstrations, or other identifiable media are intended for educational, creative, professional, or promotional use, a separate Media & Content Release may be provided.

The separate release will establish the specific permissions granted for the capture and use of that media.

Approved media may include use for:

• Educational materials
• Professional demonstrations and continuing education
• Website content
• Social media
• Advertising or promotional materials
• Other specifically authorized business purposes

Signing a Media & Content Release is not required to receive standard therapeutic services.

If the required consent or release has not been provided, identifiable media requiring that authorization will not be captured or used.
